Skeletons at the Feast — coming in paperback in 2009

The paperback of Skeletons at the Feast arrives in 2009.  I am always interested in the covers of books since it is indeed one of the ways we judge them.  Certainly I have judged a great many books by their covers.

I happen to like the paperback presentation of Skeletons a great deal.  Here’s a preview.

Chris Bohjalian is the author of nineteen books, including his forthcoming novel, The Sleepwalker. His other novels include the New York Times bestsellers Midwives, The Sandcastle Girls, The Guest Room, and The Double Bind.

Great cover! I look forward to seeing it in on sale at the checkout line at retail stores throughout America. The photo appears completely unposed and the romantic love between the couple heartfelt and authentic. People who miss take Skeletons at the Feast for a harlequin novel will be pleasantly surprised by the rich writing and narrative. Do you know the photographer?

Why a different cover for the paperback? I like it when a paperback has the same cover as the oringinal hardcover version of the book – it keeps continuity between the two.
…and I LOVE your books — you are my all time favorite author, hands down.

I was asked if the woman on the cover of the hard cover represents one particular character in the novel – I wasn’t sure, so I was hoping you could shed some light on it. Thanks a lot.

    Hi Chris-
You don’t have to publish this comment – I just wanted to say thank you for responding to my question about the woman on the cover. I’m a reference librarian, and it was a question a patron asked me. I wrote up the exchange for my blog, which is in the link field above.
Again, thank you for responding – I really appreciate it when authors communicate with readers. Take care.
