Yesterday I was one of the judges for the Vermont State Spelling Bee and I was absolutely dazzled by the participants.
Granted the printed sign with the official Pronouncer’s name was spelled wrong — Prouncer — but once that little glitch was behind us, we were off and running.
Just for the record, I was also dazzled by Adam Silverman, the Prouncer — er, Pronouncer. I couldn’t have offered the alternate pronunciations.
I also wouldn’t have made it through the sixth or seventh round. The Bee went eleven.
To get a sense of the Bee, here is a terrific Burlington Free Press video.
